What is a Proxy bid and a Hard bid?

A proxy is the maximum amount you are willing to pay as a buyer.  The number is encrypted and cannot be seen by the auction, auctioneers, other sellers or buyers.  The proxy engine only raises to your maximum amount as you are out-bid and will not exceed your highest proxy amount. 

A hard bid represents the intended amount you are willing to bid.
